In the war he accomplished many feats, but was shy and did not tell anyone about them. The storyteller's friend learned this story from the tank crew.

During the battle, Yegor’s tank was destroyed. He was pulled out of a burning car. The tanker's burns were so serious that after the main treatment he had to undergo numerous plastic surgeries.Yegor’s vision was preserved, but his face became ugly. They wanted to commit him, but he asked to go back to the regiment.
To fully recover, Yegor was given a twenty-day vacation, and he returned home, met with his parents. He did not want to injure the old with his disfigured appearance and called himself a friend of their son. His parents cordially greeted him, fed him, and asked him a lot about his son.
